Windows 8 is not yet officially released. It's going to take time to reach out to masses. Secondly, it's a major change, cross platform oriented which can be used in tablets, mobiles and desktops. So comparison isn't fair.

from my poin of view the 8 is mainly made for tablets and touch screens and phones..install the win 8 trial version.i found it very annoying and useless for a tabley
