I had no problem in porting out from airtel n porting in to docomo. Infact did that immediately it was launched. I got my no successfully ported to docomo from airtel last Jan 2011.

And another airtel no to docomo before 3 months ... Both process went smooth ...

budmaash bhai wat do u think can the new joint venture of telenor retain the old customers of uninor ? really a tough task as many will port to other operators as uninor's network will be gone during the auction period !

yup u r right abut airtel


ven i sent them portability request igot reply

your request could not be completed


then they bombarded me with calls offering various dumb benifits wout tching the main problem of unwanted services which seems to be their BREAD AND BUTTER

finally i threw away airtel sim

they tried to stop me...they offered better plans for 3 months...but what after that. so i shifted...now all izzzz well

They can port out and no one is stopping them.

But i think Telenor will come up with even better plans (most of the customers were with Uninor because it was cheap) to retain them. When they are successful in getting the license they will continue to operate with the new license and the customers won't have to buy a new sim or have any difficulty.

With most of the new operators refusing to participate in Auction, Telenor's chances are quite high.

MTS the only 3rd operator in india to offer cdma mobile services and giving tough competion to Tata & Reliance in CDMA segment

Sistema the majority shareholder (56.68% ,Russian Govt also has some stakes in the joint venture) in Sistema Shyam Teleservices Ltd (SSTL) has invoked its right to protect its investments in India as 21 licenses of SSTL was cancelled on February by supreme court. SSTL offers CDMA mobile and data services in India under MTS India brand.

Sistema today announced that they have invoked its right under Article 9.1 of the Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT) signed between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of India for the Promotion and Mutual Protection of Investments dated 23 December 1994 which came into force on 5 August 1996.

Article 9.1 of BIT provides an Investor from one Contracting Party and the other Contracting Party with an opportunity to amicably resolve a dispute arising in relation to investments made by the Investor in the territory of the State of the other Contracting Party. The procedures for the amicable resolution of such disputes include conciliation procedures under the Conciliation Rules of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law.
Sistema in accordance with Article 9.1 of the BIT has sent a formal letter through its legal counsel to the Republic of India notifying India of the existence of the dispute and proposing to settle the dispute in an amicable way within 6 months (28th August 2012). A copy of the letter has also been sent to the Indian Embassy in Moscow.
As stated in the BIT, the Government of India is obliged to promote and protect foreign investments, including treating the investments in a fair and equitable way, providing them full protection and security, and not expropriating the investments.

Now its time for Telenor how they will protect their investment in the joint venture Uninor.(hope the norway government intervenes)

after 100's of followup still these b@trd havnt ported it
13 months have passed now
