As you all know, the filehosting scenario has changed drastically in 2012. Webmaster commission from various filehosting sites was a major source of funds for us. This source has almost completely gone away and XB is facing a major cash crunch.

Currently we have accumulated pending server bills of more than $11k and more bills keep arriving every few days. Our current monthly budget for all servers is about $8k. (It used to be 10k when we had 6 file servers for FQ but now we have only 1).

We have a little bit of advertising revenue and we are taking steps to try to increase that, but it is far from sufficient. The current crisis has to be averted. XB needs your help to ride through this crunch.

i feel the best way out is make our own server and data center it will cost toooo less the net connection according to b/w and it will drastic reduice the cost just enquire the net connection cost in your region and for server its much less

Hello GF, some advise if you do not mind to manage the expenses and reduce the losses. I understand the file hosting and other revenue issues a bit and hence, providing my advice if you want to listen.

There are a few things which you can do to reduce the losses.

Firstly use Nginx if you are not doing so already to reduce a bit of the server load and then reduce some of the servers if needed.

Secondly, move exbii and related sites to European hosts such as the ones in Germany as they are far less expensive and provide a lot more bandwidth/are unlimited compared to EU hosts. For example, a Hetzner Core i 7 2600 Quadcore server EX 4S with 32 GB RAM only costs 59 euro which is far lesser than any US server of similar configuration. Replace at least most of the less important servers with servers from Europe and at least a few thousand of the server bills would be reduced.

Thirdly, instead of depending on Fileflash where I suppose you probably have some partnership go directly for your own filehosting site and only allow that on Exbii. It is a one time investment but would reap a lot of profit in the long run and reduce the losses significantly.

And to be honest, I suppose the members would like to donate more easily in return for services such as a filehosting premium membership. Only make sure that you keep good care of copyright issues and do not allow them. Rest filehosting should work out fine in the long run and the same platform can also be used for donation like it was in the past when you allowed purchase of bandwidth at the official exbii file hosting site in those days with only desi videos. People would be far more willing to pay/donate for premium bandwidth for downloading videos rather than for smileys etc. as you seem to have done now.

$8K server bill is just too much and it is not possible to sustain the site in the long run if you do not change your strategies especially with the current file hosting scenario and the Indian traffic quotient. With proper planning you can not only reduce the hosting costs by at lest half but also increase the revenues and later on profit significantly. I would not say that change everything suddenly but gradually move to European servers, start a file hosting site etc. to fix these issues. Also use an ad network if possible. It might not be that great as rates for Indian traffic have reduced significantly but will at least give some money to be used in repaying the server bills.

Finally, why have you wasted picscrazy and made it useless in terms of revenue. Picscrazy is the best adult image hosting and perhaps one of the best image hosting in the world in terms of not limiting anything at all. You were previously using BLA and Adengage and I suppose that yielded some revenues for that site. So, why have you removed that completely? Even top image hosting websites such as Imagevenue, Imagebam and Imageshack have ads on the image pages. And no image hosting is sustainable unless there is ads available. It was good in the past when you had both ads as well as random images on the right which meant more browsing and thereby more chances of CPM or CPC. Why have you wasted picscrazy completely nowadays and made it a website without any ads. Even the world's top websites are increasing ads instead and you are doing the exactly opposite. I am not sure who is managing and planning out things but they are definitely thinking it wrong. If you are planning to keep it a non-profit site then you would need to request for donations (which would never be enough) for the foreseeable future and then shut down ultimately.

Plan well and you would never need to ask for donations for such a huge website. Reduce the costs and increase the revenues and it would instead turn profitable in the long run. Think and plan with a business mind rather than panicking about shortage of funds. It would help a lot more in the stability if you reduce the costs and increase the revenue instead of letting the status quo remain. Learn from Ron Paul in this regard.
