In that blood cancer case, when my firend's mother asked the 1st doc that other doc was asking to check whether there is water in lungs or not. that doc acted as if he got offended! and asked us to take the patient away to some other hospital.
my friend's mother had to hold his feet and beg not to discharge his husband.

Also one day doc says that we cant take patient home, his situation is critical, and after couple of days when my friend says that he dont have any more money, the doc says that we can take the patient home. he is all right.
This is some BIG doc in a metropolitian.

in another case, my friend has to get operated for a fracture in his leg. the doc ask to get him hell lot of test... (including HIV)... and started the operation without even waiting for the results to come.

docs are no more Gods.

Do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from Lawyers, Police and Doctors.

I myself have seen doctors who give free medical treatment/charge very less (like Rs.5) from poor people. But charge Rs.50-100 from people who can afford to them.

I'll tell you what. When it comes to medical treatment, India is way better than US/UK/Australia. I'm not talking about general treatments for cold/cough/accidents etc. But if you have been going through some pain and need surgery/treatment that is not urgent, then you have to wait for like 12-18 months for an appointment in these western countries You have no choice but to live with your pain..even with unbearable pain sometimes..Thats where India is one of the best in the world..Because you get treatment quickly..See, there are positive sides too..

I live in Australia at the moment..See this article from Sydney Morning Herald last month:

"More Australians are travelling overseas to countries such as India and Thailand for surgery as globalisation makes private medical care more affordable and waiting times lengthen back home, writes Jim O'Rourke."

Even a denstist today advise you to have root canal for small issues. coz in root canal they get more money than simple digging a hole and do a cosmetic filling.

Yes bhai, I totally agree with you about the issues. That's why I posted, a complete restructure is required...I understand your point and concern But please don't call all doctors as butchers...Even though many are bad, calling everyone like that really hurts the good ones who dedicate themselves

the average salary of MD Medicine in USA is 2,50,000 $ per year
if we convert to rupees (x 50) it comes as Rs 1,25,00,000per year.
As compared to this, Indian MD earns 7,20,000 Rs per year.

An engineer in USA earns 70,000 $ per year, while Dr earns 2,50,000$ per year
An engineer in India earns 40,000 Rs per month, while MD earns 60,000 Rs per month.

The problem is the gap in the salary. The docs in other countries are paid of the amount of effort they put in becoming doctor. This is not so in India.

Moreover, when you open hospitals, it is difficult to even meet the expenses if they dont charge properly. Hence, all these methods.

But wrong is still wrong.

You cannot deny the fact that small docs/small hospitals gets commission upon referring a patient to a big hospital.
Also take example of a stunt which is injected in the artery. Those things could be available to common public at half the price and even less. but no, you have to purchase it from the hospital who is performing the angioplasty at 2x or 3x of its actual price.
Also hospitals gives you those drugs which are hell lot of expensive than its alternative (made by different manufacturer) available in a store right next to the same hospital.

I can show you hundreds of cases of different docs, referring for stunt... without getting into the depth of the disease.
Small hospital would give you free ambulance service upto big hospitals if you want to get the stunt injected.

Firstly, go learn the basics. its 'stent' not stunt.
Secondly, if you ever, and I mean ever go out anywhere to buy stent, it is way more costly than offered in hospitals.

Plus the quality matters, some are plain, some have medicated, some have sustained release formulations.

plus the price vary among the manufacturers.

and why the hell I am explaining you?? Go get yourself screwed and cry for cheaper stents when you get a heart attack.

Or buy 2-3 stents in advance.

are bhai, u don't understand what i want to say.

i want to say to that guy if he has so much problems with indian doctors, that he is abusing them, then he must go for the treatment in usa or uk. And not to any indian doctor, and feel the difference in the cost of treatment.
