The greatest fast bowler of my generation.
Overall might be 3rd. Malcom Marshall > Wasim Akram. |

Waqar Younis, Allen Donald, Richard Hadlee are 3 Others who could compete with Akram, but I don't think any of the 3 was better than Akram. I also loved watching Ambrose, Akhtar, Shane Bond, Dennis Lillie(Youtube), Jeff Thompson(Youtube) bowl. They were all terror in their peak time. I never really liked bowling of Mcgrath, I thought he was boring to watch. Last edited by Dhakad Chora : 23rd June 2012 at 12:34 AM. |

Overall: Murali > Warne > Marshall > Garner/Akram/Ambrose/Holding/Hadlee.
Shane Bond has an amazing record, but he played too few matches to even be in the reckoning. Walsh doesn't make my list despite the numbers and I rate Kapil Dev much, much lower. I know the Murali vs Warne debate is endless, but you'd have to vote for Murali simply because his numbers are overwhelming: the countless five and ten wicket hauls and such supreme consistency. Warne was the 'showman' and the genius of varieties - someone who you wouldn't mind paying to watch. Marshall was the god of pace. ![]() (ignored from my list are the legends of the bygone days - Truman, Laker etc). Last edited by WetDesert : 23rd June 2012 at 02:59 AM. |

Sydney Barnes to me(looking at his records), was Bradman of Bowling, he can't be surpassed by anyone. But having watched marshall I am inclined towards him to be the best Fast Bowler of all time. |

If you compare records Waqar was better than Wasim
He was the real terror . Wasim benifitted from his bowling from other end . Togather they both formed worlds deadliest pair of opening bowling . |

No not really. Waqar was dropped multiple times because of bad form. Wasim on the other hand kept on playing even when he was the senior citizen in the team. Obviously his stats did suffer as a result and ironically by getting dropped Waqar stats appear better then they should be. Still atleast Wasim ended up making a few records along the way. What did Waqar achieved? Wasim also helped Pakistan win the World cup. Keep in mind that Wasim was also an all rounder and also had the added burden of captaincy for so many years. Waqar was the last man in the batting order and sucked donkey's di*k as a captain.

Wasim was durable.
But for 4 years or so, between 90-94, Waqar was indeed the premier fast bowler in the world. He was no 1 in the rankings for a long time. Last edited by titan04 : 23rd June 2012 at 11:38 PM. |
