If you have an Intel Core second or third generation processor (i.e. Sandy Bridge or Ivy Bridge), it has QuickSync technology i.e. hardware accelerated video transcoding and editing.
But to exploit QuickSync, you'll have to use products that have been customized to use Quicksync. I did online research, tried many products and zeroed down on Cyberlink Media Espresso 6.5 for video transcoding and Cyberlink PowerDirector 10.1 for video editing (I just make clips from movie files). They don't just work really fast using QuckSync, but are really easy, clean and intuitive to use.
